What Opportunity Opened for Farmers?
Since 2026, farmers may acquire lawfully used state agricultural land plots without auction. Applications have been accepted since 1 January, and by late May such sales had already raised over EUR 1.74 million. (Source: National Land Service)
What Conditions Apply?
- The plot must be in a non-urbanised territory where agricultural activity is permitted;
- It may not be reserved for investment projects or military infrastructure;
- Single plot size — up to 3 ha;
- One person may acquire no more than 21 ha of such land in total.

What Comes in 2027?
From 1 January 2027, the lease right to state agricultural land may be transferred to family members: spouse, partner, parents, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters — particularly relevant for farms passing to the next generation.
