What Applies from 12 August?
From 12 August 2026, the core provisions of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 apply. As a regulation, it is directly applicable — no separate transposition into Lithuanian law is required. (Source: EUR-Lex)
Who Is Affected?
The Regulation covers all packaging regardless of material, and applies to manufacturers, importers, distributors and e-commerce. Its main directions:
- Reducing packaging volumes and excess packaging;
- Promoting reuse and refill systems;
- Requirements on recyclability and recycled content;
- Labelling and information requirements.
