New Court Fee Refund Rules in Lithuania: What the Late-June CPC Amendments Provide

2026 m. rugpjūčio 31 d. ·

What Changed?

On 11 June 2026 the Seimas adopted amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure (Law No. XV-1028); most took effect on 27 June 2026, and the new procedure for paying and refunding court fees in civil and administrative cases applies from 30 June. (Source: State Tax Inspectorate)

When Can a Court Fee Now Be Refunded?

  • When the fee was paid by mistake (e.g. wrong amount or wrong account);
  • When, after paying, no case was ever filed;
  • In other cases provided by law — under a clearer, uniform procedure.

Notably, refund matters are decided in written proceedings — no hearing attendance required.

What Else Changes in the CPC?

The same package also updates numerous enforcement-procedure (bailiff) provisions — we will cover the most important ones separately.
